NewAI assistant — operate, not chat

Lifecycle email,
done right.

Mailapp is the operating system for product-led email. Campaigns, automations, a real CDP, honest analytics and an AI assistant — built for teams who can tell the difference between an email that ships and an email that lands.

The problem

Email tooling stopped getting better in 2014.

You spend a third of your acquisition budget on email and the product looks like it was designed for the '90s. Brittle automations, opaque deliverability, CSV-driven segments. A "CDP" that means a spreadsheet with extra steps. We built Mailapp because we refused to accept that.

Tools that fight you
Drag-and-drop editors with twenty divs of state for a single button. Reports that take 30 seconds to load.
Segments built on hope
Static lists, exported on Friday, sent on Monday. By send time half of them already churned.
Deliverability as a vibe
"Looks good!" — nobody has the actual answer. SPF passes, DMARC silently rejects, the report shows 100% delivered.
AI that just talks
A chatbox that explains things you already know. It can't open a segment, fix a subject line, or pause a campaign.
Built for the whole team

One tool, four very different days.

Mailapp is opinionated about the work but accommodating about the people. Whether you're a solo founder or the fifth lifecycle hire, the surface meets you where you are.

FounderFor solo founders & small teams

Ship lifecycle email without hiring a lifecycle team.

You're three people deep and you need a welcome series, a winback, a re-engagement and a monthly digest. Mailapp's AI writes the first draft, the templates render in every client, and the analytics already match Stripe.

  • Templates that look hand-designed, not bot-generated
  • Revenue per campaign you can paste into a board update
  • No 'enterprise' upsell to unlock segmentation
Growth leadFor growth & experimentation teams

Run a real experimentation program in email.

Sequential testing, multivariate subject lines, holdout groups, statistical significance you can show to the data team — not a vibe-check 'winner' selected by total opens.

  • Holdout groups that persist across campaigns and time
  • Sequential tests with auto-stop on early significance
  • Per-cohort lift, not just per-send opens
Lifecycle managerFor lifecycle & CRM managers

Own the journey from signup to sunset.

Branching automations with version history. A node-level inspector that tells you exactly which contacts are waiting where, and why. Re-org your funnel without re-writing it.

  • Drag a node to refactor — links and history are preserved
  • Live profiles of who's in each step right now
  • Goal completions roll up across all journeys
Designer & engineerFor designers & engineers

A template editor that doesn't generate cursed HTML.

Components compile to inline-styled, MSO-safe HTML that survives Outlook desktop, dark-mode Apple Mail, and Gmail's image proxy. Diff your templates the same way you diff code.

  • MJML-grade output, no per-client hacks in your templates
  • Render previews against 38 real email clients per save
  • Git-friendly template files, exportable to a repo
Audience

Segments that update the moment your users do.

Your audience is not a CSV. It's a stream of events and a sea of traits and a thousand soft signals — last seen, last paid, last clicked, last opened in the Gmail mobile app on a Tuesday in November.

Mailapp's audience is a real customer data platform. Send events from your product, sync traits from your CRM, compute properties from raw behaviour. Then build segments as queries — and every campaign and automation references them by name, never by snapshot.

  • Server-side and client-side ingestion — Segment-compatible payloads
  • Computed properties with windowing (last 7d, 30d, all-time)
  • Native warehouse sync — BigQuery, Snowflake, Postgres, S3
  • Profiles with full timeline — every event, every send, every reply

Automations

Visual journeys that branch like real life.

Lifecycle automations get away with being terrible because the alternative is worse. Mailapp's builder is a graph — drag, branch, wait, split, test, goal — with version history and instant preview against a real profile.

Every node has full observability. Click any wait or branch and see the contacts in it right now, with the reason they're there. No more "why didn't user 42 receive the email".

  • Triggers from any event or trait change
  • Built-in A/B tests with statistical significance, not eyeballed
  • Waits with quiet hours, send-time optimisation, time-zone aware
  • Goals and exits — the automation ends when the user converts

Analytics

The numbers that actually match your dashboard.

Most email tools report "delivered" and call it a day. Mailapp tracks the full chain: sent → accepted → rendered → opened → clicked → converted → revenue. And we let you reconcile it with your warehouse, line for line.

Cohorts, retention curves, revenue per send, contribution to MRR. The kind of report a finance team would sign off on.

  • Cohort heatmaps for every onboarding journey
  • Attribution: first-touch, last-touch, time-decay, custom
  • Compare campaigns across periods, segments and devices

Inbox

Replies are not a side quest.

Half of the value in a campaign is in the replies — and yet most tools throw them on the floor or route them to an inbox nobody reads. Mailapp gives every send a real shared inbox, with classification, assignment, and macros.

Bounces tag the contact. Unsubs propagate to every list. Humans get routed to the right teammate. Sales replies sync to the CRM. One reply, the rest of the stack catches up.

  • Automatic classification: bounce, unsubscribe, OOO, human, sales
  • Round-robin assignment with SLAs and snooze
  • CRM sync for HubSpot, Salesforce, Attio, Pipedrive
  • Macros and AI replies that pull live context from the profile

AI

An operator. Not a chat box.

Every email tool added a chatbox in 2024. Most are useless. Mailapp's AI is built to take action: it can build a segment, draft a series, run an A/B test, fix a DNS record, pause a misbehaving send, or write a custom report — under your approval, with a clear diff of what it did.

And it lives where you work. Not in a separate panel. In the campaign editor, in the automation graph, in the inbox.

  • Acts on your data — opens segments, edits drafts, schedules sends
  • Diff and approve every action — full audit log, undo any change
  • Voice and tone trained on your past campaigns
  • Local model option for regulated industries

Threadwell

We rebuilt our entire lifecycle program — winbacks, post-purchase, browse abandon, VIP — on Mailapp in one quarter. The Klaviyo bill went from $9,400/mo to $1,950/mo. The open rate went up.

Threadwell ran Klaviyo for four years. The bill grew faster than the audience and the automation editor turned into a maze nobody dared touch.

They migrated 4.2M contacts and 38 flows in a single weekend with Mailapp's white-glove team. The visual graph let three different lifecycle owners refactor in parallel — version history saved them when the post-purchase series was accidentally pointed at the wrong segment.

Within 60 days the AI assistant had rewritten their re-engagement sequence after analysing twelve months of opens and clicks; the team approved the diff in a single review and kept it.

Anchor

We used to operate email out of three tools and a Looker dashboard. Mailapp replaced all of it — including the BI joins — and freed our one lifecycle hire to actually ship campaigns.

Anchor's compliance team blocked half of the AI features in their old stack. Mailapp's local-model option for AI plus full audit-log streaming to their SIEM unlocked the same AI workflow inside the SOC 2 perimeter.

The shared inbox replaced a separate ticketing tool — replies tag the contact, sync to HubSpot, and surface in the campaign dashboard automatically. They stopped paying for ZenDesk Pro.

The cohort retention report Anchor's finance team used to build in Mode now lives in Mailapp and matches the warehouse to the dollar.

Northbeam

Our brand designer used to dread email week. Mailapp's template editor outputs HTML she's proud of — and it actually renders in Outlook desktop, which her old tool never did.

Northbeam was running Mailchimp for broadcasts and HubSpot for lifecycle. Two tools, two reporting truths, two places designers had to fight to make the brand look right.

On Mailapp they consolidated to one editor, one segmentation model and one analytics dashboard. The brand designer authors templates as components — diffed in pull requests, previewed against 38 real clients on every save.

Sales appreciates the shared inbox: replies to nurture campaigns now route to the AE who owns the account, with full event-trace context attached. CRM hygiene improved measurably.

Wavefront Health

We needed event-driven lifecycle without sending PHI through a third-party analytics pipeline. Mailapp let us bring our own model and keep the audit log we needed for compliance.

Wavefront couldn't use mainstream AI features — protected health information made every default tool a non-starter. Mailapp's local-model AI endpoint and audit-log posture cleared the legal review in two weeks.

Their automations now branch on outcomes from the product (e.g. scheduled vs missed appointments) without leaking PHI into the analytics layer. Computed properties summarise behaviour without persisting raw events outside their region.

The compliance team called Mailapp the most cooperative vendor they'd worked with in three years. The DPA was signed without a single redline.

How it works

From import to first campaign in an afternoon.

A migration shouldn't take a quarter. Mailapp imports from Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Customer.io, Braze, ConvertKit, Loops, Resend, Postmark and a CSV. We map your lists, rewrite your automations into the new builder, and verify your sending domain — all in the same flow.

Step 01
Import
Connect your old tool. We pull lists, templates, automations, and the last 18 months of events.
Step 02
Verify domain
We auto-detect your DNS provider and generate SPF, DKIM, DMARC and tracking records. Validated in seconds.
Step 03
Rewrite
Old flows are translated into Mailapp automations. We diff every node so nothing is silently changed.
Step 04
Send
Warm-up your IP if you bring one, or use a shared pool with reputation we've spent five years earning.
Integrations

The stack you already run — plugged in, not duct-taped.

Mailapp speaks the lingua franca of modern data: events in, traits out, two-way sync where it makes sense. No middleware, no nightly CSV cron jobs, no five-figure Zapier bill.

A note from the founders

Why we're building Mailapp.

The short version. Read the long one on the manifesto.

We've worked in growth, lifecycle and developer tooling for fifteen years between us. We've sent ten billion emails. We've also sat through more "here's why your account is being paused" calls than we'd like to admit.

Email is the most important channel almost nobody is shipping a great product for. The incumbents stopped trying around 2014 — they're happy renting their list size to you at a 70% margin. The new entrants pick one slice — broadcasts, or transactional, or a CDP — and refuse to take responsibility for the whole journey.

We think that's a failure of imagination. Lifecycle email is product work. It's a graph of branching journeys, a stream of events, a feedback loop with your inbox, and a numbers-first conversation with finance. It should look and feel like the best software you use.

Mailapp is the email tool we wanted at every job we ever had. One plan, transparent metering, no per-contact tax. Tell us when we're wrong. We'll listen.

FAQ

The questions every prospect asks us.

Can't find the answer here? Ask us anything.

How is Mailapp different from Resend, Loops, or Customer.io?+

Resend is an API for transactional. Loops is great at simple lifecycle. Customer.io is powerful but heavy. Mailapp covers the whole lifecycle stack — broadcasts, automations, a real CDP, analytics, and a shared inbox — in one app, with an AI assistant that actually does work.

Will I get rate-limited or have my account paused randomly?+

No. We don't operate the way legacy ESPs do. We don't pause accounts for engagement dips. We don't gate features behind a sales call. We do enforce CAN-SPAM and our acceptable use policy — read it before you send.

What about deliverability?+

We've spent five years building shared and dedicated pools with reputation that holds in Gmail, Apple, Yahoo, Outlook and Yandex. We auto-generate SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI and tracking records, and we'll co-pilot warm-up of a dedicated IP if you bring one.

How does pricing work?+

One plan, pay-as-you-go. $9.99/mo gets you Mailapp's whole stack — campaigns, automations, AI, the CDP, the inbox — and your first 2,000 sends. Every send after that bills at $0.002 on Mailapp delivery, or $0.001 if you bring your own SMTP. Unlimited contacts, lists, automations and seats on every account. No tiers, no per-contact tax, no 'enterprise' lock-out for table-stakes features.

Is there an API?+

Yes — REST, webhooks, and a Segment-compatible track/identify/group ingestion endpoint. We're also fully usable via MCP if you've connected an agent.

Where is my data stored?+

US (us-east-1) by default, EU (eu-west-1) on request, with strict residency. DPA and sub-processor list live on the Security page.
